Neon Abyss 2 Release Date: 1.0 Launch, Platforms & Timeline

Neon Abyss 2 released its 1.0 full version on October 8, 2026 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch, joining Xbox Game Pass day one. Full timeline inside.

Neon Abyss 2's 1.0 full release launched on October 8, 2026 on PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch — and it joined Xbox Game Pass on day one. That date ended more than a year of Early Access on Steam, during which Veewo Games shaped the game directly around player feedback. Here is the full release timeline as it actually happened.

Current Release Status: 1.0 Is Out Everywhere

The 1.0 version is the current, complete version of Neon Abyss 2 on every platform: PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. The official launch announcement, posted on October 8, confirmed that the Early Access phase had ended with this release. Steam players keep their existing saves and progress, and achievements already earned unlocked automatically once Steam achievement support arrived with 1.0 — 32 achievements in total, across a game localized into 12 languages.

What "1.0" means in practice: the game left its Early Access label, the store listing moved to the full release, and every platform received the same version simultaneously. There is no separate "director's cut" edition to wait for — the launch patch is the full package, including the new Storm Raid mode, the new Titan boss, and all the quality-of-life work described in our 1.0 update guide.

For Game Pass subscribers, the game entered the service on launch day — a notable availability boost, since Xbox Game Pass members could play the full 1.0 version without buying it separately. The game is published by Veewo Games together with Kepler Ghost.

The Full Timeline: Early Access to 1.0

Here is how the road to 1.0 unfolded, based on official announcements and dev communications — every date below comes from a post the team published on Steam or its official channels, not from rumor:

  • July 17, 2025 — Neon Abyss 2 enters Early Access on Steam. Player feedback on bugs, glitches and game feel becomes a core part of development from day one, with the team repeatedly thanking the community in forum posts.
  • Early Access period — Veewo stated in an official FAQ that the plan was roughly a one-year Early Access on Steam, followed by the 1.0 launch on various console platforms. That plan held: Early Access lasted about 15 months in total.
  • August 28, 2025 — With the game's announcement at Gamescom's Future Games Show, Veewo confirms 1.0 is coming in fall, and that a rival-gods DLC ("宿敌归来" / Rivals Return) is free to claim for Early Access buyers during that period.
  • September 21, 2026 — The exact date is locked: "Neon Abyss 2 will release its 1.0 full version on Steam and all major console platforms on October 8," ending EA and bringing 4-player co-op chaos to PC and consoles simultaneously.
  • October 8, 2026 — 1.0 launches worldwide on all four platforms, with Xbox Game Pass inclusion on day one.

What Ended Up in the 1.0 Version

The 1.0 release wasn't just a version-number bump. The launch patch added a brand-new Titan boss (Tia, the God of Vanity), Steam achievements, a new fast-paced mode called Storm Raid, a random agent and the new agent-files system with boss route maps, suit reworks with expanded affixes, day/night changes and a hidden boss in the fishing room, and a bar music player for OST owners. Performance, controls and UI were also overhauled, including ultrawide support and separate graphics and frame-rate settings.

In other words, the 1.0 that launched on October 8 is substantially different from the Early Access build most reviews of the original EA version described. Critics who reviewed the full release specifically noted that the 1.0 launch improved on both the Early Access build and the original Neon Abyss.

Platform Availability at Launch

All four platforms received the game on the same day, which was the dev team's stated plan from the Early Access FAQ onward. The platform list at launch: PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. Xbox Game Pass members play via the shared Xbox ecosystem, which is also the only crossplay path — PC Game Pass players can team up with Xbox players, while Steam currently cannot connect to other platforms. That restriction matters if your friend group is split across stores, so check our co-op guide before you all buy copies on different platforms.

Console-specific details such as performance modes, file sizes or Switch-specific settings are to be confirmed. The official Steam page (appid 2235200) remains the reference point for the PC version, with 32 achievements and 12 language options listed, and Steam also hosted every major development announcement during Early Access — which makes it the best archive of the game's release history if you want to read the originals yourself.

Pricing and Editions Notes

Early Access pricing on Steam was around ¥46.98 in the Chinese store during the launch week of EA (July 17, 2025), but current pricing varies by region and any launch discounts, so check the official store pages for the live price. The "Rivals Return" DLC that was free during Early Access transitioned to a paid DLC afterward — one more reason the launch window mattered for existing owners. Players who bought the game on EA launch day and claimed the DLC for free kept it; latecomers pay for it separately.

There is also a supporter pack with extra outfits, which 1.0 expanded with several new looks. Cosmetic DLC is optional — none of it gates gameplay systems. Post-1.0 plans, including any future content updates, seasonal events or balance patches, are to be confirmed — the launch post states only that the team will keep listening to agents' feedback and bring more content in later versions, so check the official channels above for news.
